Vegetarian foods
Lacto-ovo vegetarianism is the most common type because
dairy products are an easy source of calcium. Although true animal-rights
activists (vegans) proclaim that dairy products still compromise animals,
they are still considered vegetarian foods.
Common vegetarian foods include:
- Grains
- Soy
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Legumes (beans)
Many foreign cultures depend use vegetarian foods extensively in their
national dishes. For example, Indian culture relies heavily on meatless
food, largely due to religious reasons; Hindus are not allowed to eat
cow.
